Abstract
The importance of motility for living organisms has spurred the evolutionary selection of effective mechanisms to locate and move towards a source of nutrients, odors, pheromones, etc., i.e. substances emitted by the source and randomly transported by the environmental medium. Physical constraints play a major role in individual and collective behaviors and both cases will be presented and discussed.
