Abstract
A dilute solution of long-chain flexible polymers displays many peculiar properties. Recent experimental observations reported the development of a spatio-temporal disordered motion in the limit of vanishing Reynolds number, a phenomenon called elastic turbulence. In this talk I present direct numerical simulations of viscoelastic models in two dimensions which reproduce the phenomenology of elastic turbulence. The relevance of elastic turbulence for mixing at very small scales is also discussed.
