In this talk we present some basic ideas and models of scale-free networks, we then consider the application of this ideas to the field of social networks focussing essentially on the statical properties of these systems. Aftert that we present some specific cases of study as the e-mail network and word association network. For the latter one we focus on a spectral analysis method to compute the various communities.
